Private Chef vs Catering vs Meal Delivery: Which Is Right for You?

If you want good food at home without cooking it yourself, you have three main options: a private chef, a caterer or a meal delivery service. They solve different problems, so here is a simple way to choose.
Private chef
A private chef shops for your booking and cooks live in your kitchen, so the food is finished fresh on the day. The menu is built around you and your guests, dietary needs are handled at booking, and the kitchen is cleaned up afterwards. It suits dinner parties, birthdays, holiday stays and weekly meals.
Caterer
A caterer usually prepares food off site and delivers it. That can work well for very large events where you need volume and simple logistics. The trade off is that food is often reheated or finished quickly, and the experience is less personal.
Meal delivery
Meal delivery is convenient and often the lowest cost, but menus are fixed and made in bulk. It is a good fit if you want quick, predictable meals and do not need much customisation.
How to choose
Want a memorable night at home with a personal menu: private chef
Feeding a very large crowd with simple logistics: caterer
Quick everyday meals with little customisation: meal delivery
Healthy weekly meals tailored to you: weekly chef meal prep
